Uncovering Ancient Aztalan

Join us at the Library to hear about the ongoing archaeological field research project at the site of Aztalan in Jefferson County, WI. Learn more about how the project is focused on developing a better understanding of the internal organization of Aztalan and reassessing historical narratives about the site and its occupation history.

Sissel Schroeder received her PhD from The Pennsylvania State University and is currently a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Anthropology. She is also an affiliate of the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, the American Indian Studies Program, and the Material Culture Studies Program. Her current research is focused on issues of sociopolitical complexity and historical ecology among ancient Native American societies of the southeastern and midwestern United States.
