Thanksgiving @ Your Library

Thansgiving.jpgThanksgiving falls at the end of November in that purgatory between Halloween and Christmas, and is a holiday devoted to feasting. So it’s appropriate to recommend a few cookbooks to make sure you throw the perfect holiday meal. If you’re charged with cooking the turkey (and yams, pumpkin pie, etc), below is a list of library cookbooks written specifically for the fourth Thursday of November.

Of course, there’s typically a run on Thanksgiving books this time of year. But the Dewey Decimal System is here to save you! The cookbooks under the call number 641.568 are devoted to holiday cooking, and most books in that area will have a few turkey recipes in them.

Which U.S. President declared the last Thursday of November as the national holiday of Thanksgiving? Why did Macy’s decide to have that parade every year? During the meal, you can dazzle your friends with Thanksgiving facts by checking out these books, all of them in the children’s department.  Many of them are under the call number J 394.2649, and we also have quite a few in the Juvenile Holiday section.
